About Galgate and the Local Area
Galgate is a village in the City of Lancaster. In its day, it had a thriving silk industry and much of its historic building work still stands today. However, it has now been converted into studio apartments and small offices.
Winding its way through the village is the Lancaster canal. A 41 mile stretch of water, the canal lends itself to peaceful riverside walks, bike rides and nature watching.
