About the Lune Valley
There is an abundance of trails throughout the Lune Valley which are a popular spot for both walkers and cyclists. The Lune Valley Ramble is a 16.5 mile walk that traces the lower course of the River Lune, reaching through some of the North West’s finest countryside. Additionally, Crook O Lune Picnic Site is a hugely popular spot where you can sit and enjoy stunning views over the valley.
In addition to this, there are a few attractions within the surrounding villages. Hornby Castle is privately owned. However, the gardens are open to the public. You can explore all they have to offer and visit the walled garden nursery.

Top Villages
Kirkby Lonsdale is a highly sought-after market town. It demands higher average sale prices than other villages in the Lune Valley. Just on the outskirts of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, it also offers the Lake District 20 minutes away just off the A65, leading onto the A591. There are also many great schools in the area.
Halton is a growing village located outside Lancaster City, with great road links to the surrounding areas and M6 via the Bay Gateway. There are many properties suited to all price ranges. Moreover, it also has good amenities with a village shop, post office and selection of pubs. It also has a primary school and is within the catchment for several Lancaster secondary schools.
Caton is also located outside of Lancaster and has great links to the M6. If you’re looking to enjoy a more peaceful countryside upbringing, Caton is perfect for you. There is a primary school within the village, with access to Lancaster’s secondary schools. It also has a great range of amenities.
Wray is a quirky village full of unique homes, especially if you are looking for character. The community is full of spirit and has a range of local amenities available, including a shop and primary school. For older children, you are in the catchment for Royal Lancaster Grammar School and Queen Elizabeth School in Kirkby Lonsdale.
