Property Details

Low Longmire Cottage is an attractive traditional 18th century double fronted cottage set in lovely gardens and grounds with lawns, an orchard, off road parking and with splendid views over the surrounding open countryside. The property briefly comprises; traditional entrance porch, sitting room with vaulted ceiling, log burning stove and gallery, dining room open to the kitchen also with a log burning stove, rear porch/boot room. The staircase leads to the first floor where there are two bedrooms, a bathroom and separate shower room. The property would be ideal as a permanent residence but would equally be suitable as a second home, holiday let or permanent home in a private and secluded location. There was also previous planning permission granted in 2012 to raise the existing roof structure to create sufficient height to create 2 additional bedrooms and en-suite bathroom, this has now lapsed and would simply require re-submitting for approval.

Located in between Oxen Park and Bouth village a small rural community located in the Southern part of the Lake District National Park. It is part of the beautiful Rusland Valley set amongst the picturesque low lying fells between Lake Windermere & Coniston Water. Travelling north there is ready access to Hawkshead and a wide range of outdoor activities, country walks and the extensive Grizedale Forest. To the west a five minute drive brings you to the foot of Coniston Water and slightly further to the east brings you to the shores of Windermere Lake. Nearby Bouth about a ½ mile walk has a village pub and a traditional historic working farm with cafe and shop.

Directions From the A590 at Haverthwaite heading south, after passing the Haverthwaite Railway take the next right hand turn at the cross junction, signposted for ‘Grizedale Forrest’.
